Finding online MBA programs in Southern California is simple. There are a handful of top-notch online programs run by Southern California-based schools like the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. Some schools don’t have online MBAs, but they do have other excellent business courses which can be done online. In addition to these local programs, there’s a wide variety of online programs based outside California which are open to students across the country. We’ve taken a look at the best Southern California-based online programs, plus we’ve provided you here with info on some nationwide programs you might want to look into.

The Best Online MBA Programs in Southern California

Let’s start by discussing the most recognized business school in Southern California, USC Marshall, and what they offer in the way of online study.

USC Marshall School of Business offers an executive education program called Strategic Marketing which is completely online-based. This is a short course which costs $975 for tuition – it’s not a complete MBA course. Marshall’s MBA programs don’t include a 100% online option, but if you’re a working professional looking to build on your expertise through a short online program, the Strategic Marketing course is definitely worth a look.

California State University, on the other hand, does offer a full-time MBA program which can be done completely online. The California State – Dominguez Hills programs are heavily focused towards working professionals who need to have a lot of control over how and when they study. Although it may not be amongst the most prestigious MBA programs in the country, it does rate highly for affordability. In 2010 the school made it onto Forbes.com’s top 10 for Best Buys in online MBA degrees. This seems to be the selling point that the school stresses the most, so if you’re looking for a bargain for online MBA programs in Southern California this is probably the best choice for you. If you’re more interested in the quality of your MBA degree than the cost, you may want to look at other options before you make a decision.

More Online MBA Programs in Southern California

California Miramar University in San Diego is another locally based university offering an online MBA program. California Miramar is accredited by ACICS, which is one of the major national accreditation agencies in the United States – although Miramar does not have AACSB accreditation, which is considered by many employers and educators to be the ultimate stamp of quality. The biggest advantages of Miramar are in its flexibility – if you want a 100% online program which is based in California, look no further.

The UC Los Angeles Anderson School of Management, which is typically the highest-rated California school when it comes to MBA rankings, doesn’t offer an online program – but they do have part-time and executive programs suited to busy working professionals.

Online MBA Programs In Southern California from Nationwide

Now let’s take a quick look at some of the better online programs which are available to students anywhere in the country.

University of Phoenix is widely seen as being one of the best, if not the single best provider of online MBA programs in the United States. Although it’s not AACSB accredited, student enrollment numbers speak for themselves with over 40,000 MBA students currently enrolled in the university’s online MBAs. The program allows you to take on one of 7 specializations if you know exactly what aspect of business administration you want to focus on. All in all, the quality of its teachers and the level of interactivity made possible by the technology used in this program make it stand head and shoulders above most of the other offerings out there. This is a good choice for online MBA programs in Southern California – which don’t have to be in California.

Golden Gate University, while it doesn’t have the same prestigious reputation for its online MBAs as Phoenix does, still ranks highly on many lists. Golden Gate has what it calls a ‘CyberCampus,’ which allows them to offer full MBA programs to students anywhere in the country, 100% online. Golden Gate’s main strengths lie in the fact that it also offers fast-track options so you can get qualified faster, and its programs focus on real-world business situations (which is especially important when you’re learning online and don’t have the same level of ‘hands-on’ learning as someone in an on-campus program).
